DVD Cover and Release Date for Scott Adkins’ Ninja
DVD News, Ninja (2009) Movie — By Nix on August 14, 2009
Scott Adkins’ “Ninja” may never see the inside of an American movie theater, but that’s not the case in Malaysia, where the film is scheduled for a theatrical run starting in October 22, 2009. Also, the film is already up for pre-order in the UK via the online etailer Play.com, with a November 23, 2009 release date, and you can check out the DVD cover for it to your left.
A westerner named Casey, studying Ninjutsu in Japan, is asked by the Sensei to return to New York to protect the legendary Yoroi Bitsu, an armored chest that contains the weapons of the last Koga Ninja.
Of course, if you buy the DVD from Play.com, it’ll come in Region 2, so you’ll need a multi-region DVD player to actually watch the movie. Consider yourself warned.
Thanks again to the boys at Scott Adkins Fanz for the heads up.

Ninjas Rock. this looks a lil budget but still looks cool. American Ninja the Remake. Whatever happened to Michael Dudikoff anyway?
Michael Dudikoff lives on my vhs rack. I summon him each time i pull out my American Ninja vhs’s and relive the awesomeness of when ninjas ruled the world. Someone said this on another post but I hope after Ninja and Ninja Asassin, Sho Kosugi does Return of the Ninja and brings his two sons (who compete regularly on ninja warrior) to the states and kick everyoone’s ass.
NINJA WARRIOR!!!!! Lol. I wasn’t aware his sons competed. That’s an awesome idea for a Return of The Ninja flick. Have his sons play his sons and avenge the death of their father, killed earlier in the film. Two ninjas for the price of one. The Year of the Ninja continues.
yes my friend, that would be quite the awesome. But i cant trust hollywood to do the right thing and make the movie. it would be so amazing though.
Yes it would. ANd so would my martial arts version of “Expendables” featuring, Scott Adkins, Russle Wong, Mark Dacascos, Michael Jai White, Donnie Yen, Robin Shou, Michelle Yeoh, Maggie Q, and Kelly Hu. Jet Li, and Jackie Chan would have cameos as they are the Bruce and Arnie of the film LOL
Whatever happened to Michael Speedman from the perfect weapon. And i would also have to throw in the dude that played Tommy lee in Best of the Best. Man I dont know where you live, but i think we could have a few drinks and geek out lol.
Phillip Rhee from Best of the Best was bad ass! But where he went is a mystery to me. Yeah we are definitely like minded.
he is a martial arts instructor I saw him doing a demo on youtube and he gain some pounds since perfect weapon. more to the point tho this movie is going to be awesome scott adkins is a real deal martial artist im glad hes finaly getting a chance to be the lead man this is going to be 100 times better then that flashy gay ninja assasian wb is makeing.
Well I’ve seen some of the fights from “Assassin” and they’re not bad. Not nearly as much cutting and editing that I thought it would be. However it is HEAVILY shadowed, and the CG Kunai and Chain get to be much. That said they do some cool stuff with the ninjas hiding in shadows. One particular scene reminded me of “Aliens” as the camera moved up into the ceiling you could see a bunch of ninjas start drawing their swords, when it previously looked like nothing but shadow and darkness.
“Ninja” will have awesome fight scenes done in the “enter the Dragon” one take style that Michael Jai White’s “Blood and Bone” did so well. I can’t wait for this. ANyone know when it hits in the states?
The old and die hard action stars.
Gary Daniels, Jason Scott Lee, James Lew, and the guy who played Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat.
They need to get Tony Jaa in some of these films. His acrobatics and skill are phenomenal. As well as his friend and a couple of the other Thai action stars.
And lets not forget Keith Cooke. He was quick, agile, and powerful.
Just watched this in a Malaysian cinema today. Fight scenes were quite good but of course all exaggerated and the hero would be tired out if he were to jump around so much. The most ridiculous thing is the attack on the group of ninjas who would be smarter using ranged weapons instead of getting killed like flies in melee combat against a stronger opponent – Ninjas are supposed to be practical. Heroine was useless with all her Ninja training. *sigh* Too much emphasis on revenge too. >_< Oh well! Beginning Japanese martial arts scenes were quite good for a movie that is not going to see the light of the day in American cinemas though.

LOL. Glad you enjoyed it, I can’t wait ti see it myself. I’m sure Ninja Assassin is even more over the top and ridiculous.
Cheesy and cliches. Overused of cgi. And the dialogue…. Oh god. I forgot bad movies still exist.
Which film are you talking about? “Ninja Assassin” or “Ninja.” I didn’t think “Ninja” used cgi for anything, so I’m guessing it’s the former?
