After his turn as a heavily greased up, walking human tank in Justin Lin’s “Fast Five”, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is now in talks to join Jon Chu’s “G.I. Joe” sequel for Paramount, playing a (we presume) heavily greased up, walking human machinegun. (The sequel, as previously reported, will be called “G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes”.)
Johnson will be playing a character named Roadblock, who in G.I. Joe lore is a big black dude with a big ass machinegun, not to be confused with Heavy Duty played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as a big black dude with a machinegun in the first movie.
Chu, who has helmed a couple of “Step Up” movies, will be directing, with Channing Tatum and Ray Park expected back as Duke and Snake Eyes, respectively, and Byung-hun Lee returning as the villain Storm Shadow. Everyone else, though, is fair game.
