Dwayne The Rock Johnson Hints at an Upcoming Badass D.C. Movie Team-Up

Taking a cue from his buddy Vin Diesel, who was Facebooking and hinting at his meeting with Marvel for a role long before he was officially announced as the voice of Groot in James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy”, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has taken to Twitter to tease an upcoming team-up with D.C. and their movie studio partners at Warner Bros.

The “Fast and Furious” star recently wrote this on his Twitter on New Years Eve:

Of course, what that meeting was about could be a number of things. Given his bulk, the Rock has been linked to any number of D.C./Warner comic book movies, including “Lobo”, which he was linked to as far back as 2012, though it doesn’t appear as if anything has come from that in terms of development. (Probably for the best. The idea of a “Lobo” movie just seems … weird.)

But given that Warner is currently putting all their comic book movie universe eggs in Zack Snyder’s “Batman vs. Superman,” could the Rock end up playing a role there? Maybe Doomsday? Or a very “out of the box” Lex Luthor? Why the hell not. He’d certainly be more intimidating than Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey, bald or not.

If it isn’t Lobo or anything in “Batman vs. Superman,” what would you like to see Johnson tackle from the D.C. library?

He would be an awesome Bane for the new Affleck lead Batman series! He’d make a good Ace Of Spades in a live action version of the Royal Flush Gang. It’s a stretch but he’d fit that role.

Yeah he would!! But I want Rock to have personality so Ace is out, and I don’t think they’d do Bane so soon.

      • Aegon the Conqueror

I also would not rule out a Bane appearance in Arrow, seeing as they are using so much of his villian gallery some of whom have featured fairly recently in Batman.

  • Aegon the Conqueror

    He’d make a cool Doomsday.

Was trying to avoid that. Too soon for Doomsday!

I think he’d make a great Lobo, and you could easily do a fun, balls to the wall movie with him. When Guy Ritchie was on board I was all for it. Take a little Riddick’s world/tone, a bit of Star Wars and some Firefly, throw in some cameos by the GL Corps, Rannians and Thanagarians and make it some crazy bountyhunter story and viola gold! You can spin the new GL out of it and everything! They could even throw in the Reach!

That would be a good way to introduce Green Lantern for their new DC film universe (assuming that they are not treating the Ryan Reynolds film as cannon). He would be good in that role. He’d need to really go gritty and they’d need to push for an R rating but crazier things have happened. They could play it almost like a GOTG in reverse type film with Lobo being the one chasing down a band of intergalactic miscreants!

    Cyborg

Too soon for Doomsday, maybe Cyborg, definitley not Lex Luthor… but why not Darkseid? If we are trying to put the JLA together, maybe he’ll be Prince Uxas…

    • Fafa

      Or… John Henry Irons?

      • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

Irons would work, and it’d be interesting to see him play an intellectual.

      • Juggernaut

Good call! I could see that.

    • Fafa

I also can see him as John Stewart

      • http://www.beyondhollywood.com/ Dedpool

That’s the latest rumor floating around now too. I could see that, especially if they with the Marine background.

        • Juggernaut

I just finished watching season 1 of The Following on Netflix and I have seen the actor who IS John Stewart and his name is Mike Colter. Staure, look, acting ability he has it all.

My vote would be Black Adam. I think he would own that part. Which would open the doors for a Shazam movie thats more for the kids.

You can’t start with the villain. Adam can’t show up in Superman vs Batman cause tehre’s nothing to connect him to them. And then just having him there to intro Shazam would be silly. I still would love to see him as Adam, but it has to be in a Shazam movie.

From growing up being a fan and watching him play the worlds biggest asshole The corporate Rock I think he would make a kickass modern take on Lex Luthor. Too many people underestimate him playing that role because they can’t seem to look past color and size.
