Steven Spielberg’s E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial Phones Home on Blu-ray For the First Time

Steven Spielberg’s 1982 family sci-fi classic “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial” will be phoning home on Blu-ray for the first time this October courtesy of Universal Studios, just in time for the film’s 30th anniversary. The Blu-ray release will promises “all-new, digitally remastered picture that delivers six times the resolution of DVD and 7.1 surround sound.” Not bad. In 1982, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial became the biggest blockbuster of the year, ranking #1 over 16 different weekends. Even today, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial remains the fourth most successful movie of all-time1 in the United States.
