I read those reviews you cited and for the most part, they were pretty positive. Now, that's not to say that the reviewers didn't have certain problems with the movie, (primarily related to the last 1/4 of the film, which most of them considered a little "schlocky"), but overall, they enjoyed it and praised Will Smith's performance.
