Or at least, manipulate Bourne-replacement Jeremy Renner (playing a Jason Bourne-ish character that ISN’T Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne) and send guys to fight him. I don’t really see Ed Norton actually taking on Renner in a, you know, fist fight or anything. Of course, if he did he could probably easily pull it off. Norton is one hell of an actor, and he’s already proven that he can be physical in films like “American History X” and “The Incredible Hulk”. Plus, we don’t really know what kind of “villain” role Norton is currently in negotiations to play. So, yeah, maybe Norton will end up being a fellow super badass spy who goes toe-to-toe with Renner. Just I just see him as more of a behind-the-scenes bad guy in this one. Could be wrong, of course, I’m just speculatin’.
“The Bourne Legacy” is from Tony Gilroy, who will also direct. The film will be set in the Matt Damon “Bourne” universe, minus Jason Bourne, whose “legacy” (get it?) will reverberate throughout the new film. Rachel Weisz was previously rumored for the female lead, and has apparently signed on the dotted line.
Gilroy and the studio hopes to shoot “Legacy” by this Fall.
