Edgar Allan Poe: P.I. of the Macabre?

Everyone suddenly wants to get into the Edgar Allan Poe business. Besides that movie with John Cusack waiting in the wings, ABC has ordered a similar sounding new drama/crime pilot from “Alias” writer Chris Hollier and producer Dan Lin titled simply, “Poe”.

The plot? The famous author moonlights as a detective employing unusual methods to solve crimes in 1840s Boston.

No word on how the raven fights into things.

That’d actually make sense for a show. Don’t know how well a period piece would work but hey you never know. What if they made it about Poe’s decendant and we find out that some of Poe’s stories and poems were based off of real life adventures. We could start the episode with a flashback to Poe and his adventure (like in Cold Case) to set things up an then move to the present where his decendant is currently working a similar or related case. I was thinking that he was able to capture and imprison some spirits and they’ve all gotten out and Poe decendant is the only one who can recapture them using an old notebook Poe wrote.
