Edgar Wright’s “The World’s End” (not to be confused with the “rich Hollywood movie stars get together to make a movie as a gag” movie “This is the End”) has delivered two new posters, including a quad banner poster, which is something the folks Across the Pond prefer over the more boring one-sheet poster style. And yes, this is an alien invasion movie. Unless, of course, those guys with glowing eyes are just sporting glowing eyes because they drank the wrong beer. I suppose that’s possible, though unlikely. For those who missed it, the trailer for “The World’s End” can be found here.

With “The World’s End” done, you know what that means. Yup, Edgar Wright can now get started on that “Ant-Man” movie he’s been promising us for the last dozen years or so. Okay, so maybe it hasn’t been a dozen years, but it sure feels like it.

20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.

Starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Rosamund Pike, Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, and James Marsan.

Ending it all this August 23, 2013.
