Eli Roth Talks Hostel 3, Cell, Future Films

Back in 2007, Eli Roth was coming off the surprise success of “Hostel” and the recently released “Hostel 2”, and was flying high. He was quickly attached to the Stephen King adaptation “Cell”. That is, until “Hostel 2” fell like a fat kid into a pile of cake, and all bets were off. Now Roth is acting in his buddy Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds”, but has a series of movies planned. Alas, two of the movies he won’t be involved in includes the third installment in the “Hostel” franchise and an adaptation of the Stephen King novel “Cell”.

Via STYD, Roth confirms that he has zero involvement in the upcoming “Hostel 3”, which will be going direct-to-DVD. And when he says zero involvement, he means it. Then again, considering the box office fate of “Hostel 2”, maybe both sides are kind of relieved about that.

As for “Cell”, Roth said he left the project years ago over creative differences, and has no involvement in it as well. The movie is now being planned as a 4-hour TV mini-series by John Harrison, which we just reported on earlier today.

So what is on tap for Roth? He’s got a $60 million sci-fi epic called “Endangered Species” that he’s looking to start on later this year, he’ll be producing a martial arts movie with RZA of the Wu Tang Clan called “The Man with the Iron Fist” (that RZA will be directing), and he’s finishing up a horror movie called “Cotton”, which he also produced.

Looks like he’s got his hands full. You know you’re a busy man when you’re too busy for torture porn, cause let’s face it, who doesn’t make time for torture porn?
