Elisha Cuthbert Joins Re-Animator Remake
Horror Movie News, Re-Animator (Remake) Movie — By Nix on March 17, 2009 |
Yes, in case you were wondering, they really are remaking Stuart Gordon’s ’80s horror flick “Re-Animator” as previously reported, and no, Jeffrey Combs won’t be reprising his role as mad scientist Doctor Herbert West. Instead, the remake will go the “younger” route (as all remakes do), and besides starring Ezra Godden in the lead, Elisha Cuthbert has also been added to the cast as Godden’s girlfriend. Lucky bastard.
Horror-movies.ca has your reanimated news:
Producers Brian Yuzna (the original Re-Animator) and Ray Haboush (The Last House of the Left) have confirmed in an exclusive interview to the spanish magazine ‘Fotogramas’ that they are going ahead with the remake of Re-Animator. The remake will be shot entirely in Spain and will start as early as next summer!
Yuzna also confirms that this is not a new chapter in the Re-Animator saga, but a remake of the first one which follows a dedicated medical student and his gf who get involved in some crazy experiments (no not those kind, medical ones!) involving reanimating dead tissue. When one day an odd new student arrives on campus and things really start to “get moving”.
The article also mentions that although Combs won’t be reprising his West character, he will have a small role in the remake. But other than that, this is a completely new “Re-Animator” franchise. Star Ezra Godden, meanwhile, is an old hand with Stuart Gordon movies, having starred in the director’s “Dagon”.
Below: Yeah, I’d re-animate that.
