…for nubile young girls to kill! Muahahahahah! Ahem. Fresh new clip from Samuel Bayer’s upcoming “A Nightmare on Elm Street” remake (via Yahoo!), due out in theaters everywhere later this month on April 30, 2010. The clip also gives you your best look at Freddy’s burnt face yet, and it ain’t pretty. Well, unless you love burnt faces, in which case, it’s kinda hot. Get it? Ahem.

Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape.

Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton, Lia D. Mortensen, Charles E Tiedje, and directed by Samuel Bayer.

Whoa. Now that's what I'm talking about. Perfect tension, perfect amount of creepiness, and the face is great. Can't wait.

thats a great loose, if they show how freddy gets made in the start it will ruin the movie, as part of the greatness of the first is not knowing what freddy is. its down with lucas ruining the original trilogy and empire by giving away who darth vaders parents were in the prequels. why they did not ask robert (no he wasnt verified at his website hailey fanboys and nightmare protest) to at least do voicework and hailey do bodywork is beyond me. they didnt even retool the voice as promised. i predict kickass will win at the boxoffice over nightmare wich will be number 2 or 3 for a couple of weeks and drop off the face of the earth. wow a whole 1 other comment on here. thank god.

and no robert isnt to old to play freddy if vincent price did movies till his 80s (edward siccorhands) and anthony hopkins played hannible in his 50s and 60s and is still doing movies (i believe in his 60s or 70s doing wolfman) and the guy from the saw series is 55+. your generation rips off my generation. huge robert englund fan its like removing james earl jones voice as darth vader. freddy was original because he had a personality and one liners unlike other heavy breather slasher movies. end of rant.

They actually do explain what happened to Freddy in the original they just don't show it. So we do know what Freddy it

That what would make this movie horrible. if you want to see robert englund and his corny one liners go rent the old Nightmare On Elm Streets Movies, New Time, New Age. no one want hear freddy crack jokes anymore.

I agree 100%. He's still gonna have a personality, but it's all about the stalking, and the anticipation of the kill and just how much he enjoys it. The rubbing the blades together as he slowly stalks his victims is a nice touch. I like the line “Why are you screaming? I haven't even cut you yet!”

@john Fiscle Those characters were supposed to be the age that the actors were or close to it. As for Haley as Freddy, his voice is fine. It's not over the top vaudville and camp like Englund became. It's gravely but deeper and alot more sinister. Like “Unknown” said, if you want oldschool Freddy go watch the old films I for one grew up with Freddy but haven't thought of him as truly scary since the first film.
