It looks like there won’t be just one ex-Sarah Connor on the set of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” come next year. Emilia Clarke will be joining her GOT co-star Lena Headey as the third actress to play Sarah Connor, having officially been cast as the tough-as-nails mom of mankind’s future savior in director Alan Taylor’s “Terminator: Genesis”.
This means, of course, that Taylor, who got his start directing episodes of “Game of Thrones”, will be reuniting with Clarke, currently playing dragon queen Daenerys Targaryen on the popular fantasy show.
Clarke is the first official casting for the sci-fi reboot, and if all goes well, she will be joined by “Zero Dark Thirty’s” Jason Clarke (no relation) as her freedom fighter son. Being that male Clarke is quite older than female Clarke, obviously there will be a lot of time-travelin’ going on in “Terminator: Genesis”. Let’s hope there won’t be any “Back of the Future” type shenanigans, though. That’d just be creepy.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, star of the last three “Terminator” movies (and who had a minor cameo in the fourth) is expected back in some capacity. Given that he’s a tad older now and probably won’t be able to “be back” in anything resembling his ’80s glory, you’re probably looking at another cameo.
Clarke’s “Game of Thrones” co-star Lena Headey, for those who didn’t catch it when it aired a few years back, previously played Sarah Connor on Fox’s “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”. The first person to ever play the role was, of course, Linda Hamilton in the first two “Terminator” movies directed by James Cameron.
“Terminator: Genesis” is currently scheduled for 2015.
