Emily Blunt plays Rita Vrataski in Doug Liman’s sci-fi actioner “Edge of Tomorrow”, which was formerly “All You Need is Kill” before it changed its title just in time for Comic Con. The movie co-stars Tom Cruise, and is best explained as a sci-fi version of “Groundhog Day” … but with war. Or “Groundhog Day” and “Saving Private Ryan”, maybe, though I’m not sure how brutal the combat will be in the film, i.e. will it be R or PG-13?
Until we find that out, here’s Blunt on the film’s latest poster.
I’m not sure, but I think this might be the first time Blunt has starred in an action movie. She had a shotgun in “Looper”, but she wasn’t exactly running around doing battle. She’ll be doing exactly that in “Edge of Tomorrow”, and doing it pretty well, too. Her character, anyway.
“Edge of Tomorrow” will star Cruise as a soldier fighting in a futuristic war with aliens, who finds himself caught in some kind of time loop that has him repeating the same day. Along the way, the soldier becomes a better fighter, and teams up with Blunt’s character to put the hurt on the aliens.
Originally set for 2013, “Edge of Tomorrow” is now going to war next year on June 6, 2014.
Here’s a previous poster (is that supposed to be Cruise underneath the suit?):
