Check out the first spooky trailer for “Sinister” director Scott Derrickson’s latest, “Deliver Us From Evil,” which is based on a true story. No, really, this stuff all actually happened. Ahem. Just go with it, I guess, because to not do so would just be silly, wouldn’t it?
Anyways, here’s the first trailer for the movie, which takes a rather novel approach — it spends much of the two minutes on the kid in her bed hearing things. Basically two scenes stitched together. That’s a somewhat unique way to cut a trailer. If you’re interested in knowing what the movie is about, though, feel free to read the synopsis below.
In DELIVER US FROM EVIL, New York police officer Ralph Sarchie (Eric Bana), struggling with his own personal issues, begins investigating a series of disturbing and inexplicable crimes. He joins forces with an unconventional priest (Edgar Ramírez), schooled in the rituals of exorcism, to combat the frightening and demonic possessions that are terrorizing their city. Inspired by the book, which details Sarchie’s bone-chilling real-life cases.
Starring Eric Bana, Edgar Ramirez, Olivia Munn with Sean Harris and Joel McHale.
The evil comes out to play this July 2, 2014
