Ethan Hawke Will do a Cameo in Total Recall Remake

Ethan Hawke has signed up to join Colin Farrell’s “Total Recall” remake, though it won’t be a major role, and is being called a “cameo in nature”. No word on what kind of cameo, though.

We also know more about the film, which definitely sounds like it’s diverging quite a bit from the 1990 original that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The new story ditches the Martian storyline and instead involves nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai, with Douglas Quaid (Farrell) a factory worker in the latter who begins to believe he is a spy, although he doesn’t know for which side.

Okay, so that sounds a lot more like something different, because for a while there everything sounded very much like the Paul Verhoeven film.

Len Wiseman (“Underworld”) is directing the remake, with Farrell starring and Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel both in talks for the film’s two main female roles. “Breaking Bad’s” Bryan Cranston had also previously signed up to play the villain.
