Sherlock Holmes as a tattoo-covered nutcase? Well, that’s one way to go with the famous Detective, I guess. It’s certainly worlds apart from the BBC version as played by Benedict Cumberbatch, that’s for damn sure. This one seems less concern with making Holmes superhumanly clever, and more concern with making him very human, who happens to be slightly more clever than the average man. I guess now the “Sherlock” people can stop getting their panties into a bunch, because while both shows may share the same hero, they’re not really the same hero. And I haven’t even gotten to the fact that CBS’ version has Lucy Liu, obviously a woman, playing Watson.
‘Elementary’ stars Jonny Lee Miller as detective Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson in a modern-day drama about a crime solving duo that cracks the NYPD’s most impossible cases.
Jonny Lee Miller is Sherlock Holmes, Lucy Liu as his “sober companion” Joan Watson, and Aidan Quinn as the cop who puts up with them because, well, they solve cases no one else can, apparently.
Coming to CBS this Fall.
