The CW’s “Arrow” continues to astound me with its ability to be really, really great one moment and really, really awful the next. The episodes always seem to break down as 30 minutes (plus commercials) of outstanding pathos and world building intercut with 30 minutes of horrendous writing like sisters bonding during a city on fire and Arrow and Canary riding piggyback on a motorcycle. But then you get great stuff like Oliver Queen wrestling with the consequences of his decision, usually followed by something idiotic like the Arrow knocking out two of Slade’s Bane Army soldiers and then moments later, whining about how Slade’s Bane Army soldiers are so unstoppable. Dude, didn’t you just knock like two of them out with a trick arrow?
Anyways, here’s the promo for the Season 2 finale, “Unthinkable,” which features all-out war between Team Arrow and Team Slade. Remember when Barry Allen aka The Flash was supposed to make his Flash debut later in Arrow Season 2, before they decided to save his first costumed appearance for his own show? I get the feeling the Flash was supposed to show up while Starling City was burning and save the day. Oh well.
By the way, who do you think is the “one person” that Oliver loves the most? The show has been teasing it for the last few episodes, and the fact that they’ve never said the person’s name makes me think it’s someone unexpected. Laurel would be too obvious, and I don’t think it’s Sarah, either. I know all the fangirls out there want it to be Felicity, but that, too, might be too obvious. So … then who? I guess we’ll find out, because according to the plot synopsis for next week’s finale, Slade takes that person hostage.
Starring David Ramsay, Emily Bett Rickards, Katie Cassidy, Stephen Amell, Caity Lotz, Colton Haynes, Willa Holland, Manu Bennett, and Summer Glau.
The season 2 finale airs next week.
