Extended Trailer for NBC’s Constantine TV Series (Hell) Blazes Online

Matt Ryan in Constantine

He’s British, he’s smart-alecky, and he’s here to save the world in NBC’s new show “Constantine,” based on the D.C. comic book character. If the name sounds familiar, it’s also the title of the 2005 Keanu Reeves movie, except this time Constantine is actually played by an Englishman. The difference is pretty astounding, to say the least.

In the show, Matt Ryan stars as the titular John Constantine, who we’re told is “a man struggling with his faith is haunted by the sins of his past but is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.”

The pilot for “Constantine” was directed by the bloody good Neil Marshall (“Dog Soldiers,” “The Descent”) and you can check out an extended 3-minute trailer for the upcoming series below. From what I can tell, this version of Constantine doesn’t take a single puff. Not even from an electronic cigarette! Weird.

“Constantine” co-stars Harold Perrineau, Lucy Griffiths, Charles Halford, Miles Anderson, and Julia Lehman.

The show premieres this Fall on NBC.

Hmmm don’t know the character well enough to decide whether it looks good or not, at least he sounds British,.
Think this might struggle a bit mainstream, but I think I’d still enjoy it.

Funny how the show managed to cast a Rachel Weisz lookalike

With its content centered on the supernatural I can see it being a hit. I’m not sure why the didn’t name it Hellblazer though. It’s a cooler title and would cut tied to the Keanu Reeves film.

Agreed 100% And I didn’t hate the Keanu film either. There were definitely things I enjoyed. But this looks damned good. Hope it has a better run than my other two favorite supernatural shows, “Brimstone,” and “Dresden Files.”
