Fanboy Nerdgasm: Luke Builds his Lightsaber in Return of the Jedi

Like a lot of socially-awkward boys and girls around my age, I grew up with George Lucas’ original “Star Wars” trilogy, an obsession that continues to pop into my daily life to this very day. Sort of sad, yes, but oh-so true. Ever the vigilant SW nerd, my friend Nick was kind enough to point me in the direction of this deleted scene from “Return of the Jedi”, a clip which includes a short scene featuring Luke Skywalker, his trusty lightsaber, and a lot of fanboy squeals. The video isn’t even a minute long, but it somehow manages to evoke a fair amount of nerd-related warm fuzzies in this weathered old fan. If you love “Star Wars” and deleted scenes, chances are you’re going to nerdgasm. Trust me on this one.

This clip arrives courtesy of The Star Wars Celebration, which screened the aforementioned sequence to a large crowd of excited individuals. The quality isn’t the greatest, but it gets the job done nonetheless.

I can see that as a nerdgasm worthy scene. I mean other than Vader mentioning it towards the end, it’s never referenced, or that making one is part of Jedi training. Can’t wait til the Blu-rays hit.
