Farscape’s Rockne O’Bannon Gets his Cult on at the CW

Rockne O'BannonRockne O’Bannon, the man who gave us history’s most criminally underappreciated sci-fi show of all time, “Farscape”, has landed a pilot order for a new show called “Cult” over at the CW.

Unfortunately, it’s not very “Farscape”-ish, or very sci-fi-ish, but it does seem to dip somewhat into cult fandom, especially in light of the cult fandom that exists around O’Bannon’s “Farscape”. Here’s the plot in a nutshell:

After a rash of disappearances and a likely murder, an inquisitive, young female production assistant on a wildly popular television show called Cult joins a journalist blogger in investigating the rabid fans of the series who might be re-creating crimes seen on the program, in real life.

So what, the blogger turns out to be an alien? Something like that? There’s got to be more than just a TV show and a production assistant investigating crimes, right? I mean, right? Let’s hope so.

O’Bannon will write and executive produce the pilot, with “Gossip Girl’s” Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (God help us) also producing.
