With the untimely death of Paul Walker, production on James Wan’s “Fast and Furious 7” was thrown for a major loop. Walker wasn’t just an actor on the movie franchise, but next to series star Vin Diesel, his character, cop turned fed turned fugitive Brian O’Conner got the second most screentime. So his death was surely to put a major crimp in things.

After a lot of speculation, it looks like Universal and Diesel have decided to delay the seventh installment for an entire year, with the film’s release date pushed back to April 10, 2015. No doubt this is so the film can be re-written to properly respect the actor’s contribution and death.

Diesel made the announcement himself via his Facebook page:

The last scene we filmed together…

There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come…

Fast and Furious 7 will be released…

April 10th 2015!

P.s. He’d want you to know first…

The last scene mentioned is the pic below.

Overall, I think this is a good idea, and really a no-brainer. I’m frankly shocked the studio didn’t just push on like nothing had happened and crudely CGI’ed Walker’s face onto a stunt double and call it a day. It seemed like the kind of business decision they would make.

Go figure.
