Yesterday, we heard news that “Evil Dead” remake co-writer and Fede Alvarez’s BFF Rodo Sayagues was telling a foreign news outlet that he and Alverez were off the “Evil Dead 2″ movie, and had been “for months”. As it turns out, he was either talking out of his butt, or something got lost in translation. Today, Alvarez has taken to twitter to tell people “don’t believe everything you read online”.
He then clears things up further to Bloody-Disgusting:
Rodo meant we’re not actually making ‘Evil Dead 2′ right now because the priority is Sam’s ‘Army of Darkness 2.’ But the plan of making a sequel to our ‘Evil Dead’ is very much alive.
Ah, see, he doesn’t actually say HE will be making “Evil Dead 2″, he just says the “plan of making a sequel to OUR ‘Evil Dead'” is still alive. I think everyone knew that. The film turned a very nice profit, and we all know Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures has never allowed a sequel to to unmade if it could still make them a dollar.
So it definitely looks like we might be getting an “Army of Darkness 2″ before “Evil Dead 2″. That’s not such a bad deal. I was always more partial to an “Army of Darkness” sequel myself, and from the sounds of it, it looks like everything is coming together to make that happen.
Let’s make this happen, boys!
