Ferrell, Pitt, and Hill on Superhero Animation Oobermind
Oobermind (2010) Movie — By Nix on August 17, 2009
Now this sounds like a great idea for an animated movie (and it actually reminds me a lot of “The Incredibles”): a supervillain finds that life is pretty boring after he defeats his archnemesis, leading him to create a new superhero in order to have someone to fight. Turns out the newly created superhero wants to be bad, too, forcing our supervillain to become a superhero. Now that’s a premise. Throw in the voice talents of Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, and Jonah Hill (okay, maybe not so much Hill), and Dreamworks Animation’s “Oobermind” (originally called “Master Mind”) is looking very uber impressive.
Variety reports that Will Ferrell, no stranger to voicing animation, will be replacing Robert Downey Jr., who was originally slated to voice the film’s titular villain-turned-superhero Oobermind but left due to the ever-popular scheduling conflicts excuse. Brad Pitt will be play Oobermind’s do-gooder nemesis Metro Man, while Hill will play newly minted superhero Titan. Tina Fey is also in the cast, playing an intrepid Lois Lane-type reporter.
Tom McGrath, co-director of the “Madagascar” movies, will direct “Oobermind” with Lara Breay and Denise Nolan Cascino producing.
“Oobermind” is scheduled for a Fall 2010 release.
