I have to admit, for a movie that has had such a history of production problems, director problems, pacing problems, studio problems — basically, a heck of a lot of problems — the recently released trailer for Nicole Kidman’s “The Invasion” looks pretty darn good. I got a very good feel for the paranoia and the action, and if the film itself can balance the two without sacrificing the other, we could have ourselves a surprisingly good movie here. Then again, all the reports of problems could end up producing a very bad movie, but that’s just the chance I’ll have to take, because I’m now keen on seeing “The Invasion”. So here is your preview of the movie, complete with a gaggle of production stills.
A mysterious epidemic is sweeping the world, but it takes one Washington DC psychiatrist to discover that the disease is extraterrestrial in origin. When her son becomes infected, she and a colleague must work together to find a cure, before the entire world is lost…
Starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Jeremy Northam, Malin Akerman, and (kinda) directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel.
The invasion begins August 17th, 2007.
