First Action Set Photos from Star Trek Sequel (POTENTIAL SPOILERS) – UPDATED

Star Trek LogoJ.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” sequel is well into production, but we still have no idea what it’s about, even what it’s going to be called (though I think “Star Trek 2″ is good enough; why tack on a silly subtitle?), or even who is playing what. What we do know, though? It’ll probably be awesome. Hopefully, anyway.

But now we know a little bit more, thanks to two action candid photos from the film’s set.

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW

Check out your first look at Zoe Saldana (Uhura) wielding a phaser and Zachary Quinto (Spock) going mano-a-mano with Benedict Cumberbatch’s mysterious character. I guess now we know that Cumberbatch won’t be playing a good guy, if Spock pulling that Vulcan death grip on him is any indication. Looks like ol Cumberbatch is fighting back, though.

The untitled “Star Trek” sequel is set for Summer 2013, with all the original cast back, including Chris Pine, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin. Besides Cumberbatch, new castmembers also include Alice Eve, Peter Weller, Noel Clarke, and Nazneen Contractor.

    Not sure if I’m a gree. I mean, Spok also made the Vulcan death grip on Kirk on the first one, yes? So, who knows? Maybe this guy made fun of his mom too.

    I’m not a Trekkie or a Treker or whatever super-fans of the material are by any means but I really liked the reboot. Since I’m not well versed on the subject matter I cannot intelligently guess what character Cumberbatch will be playing, hero or villain. Anyone have any ideas?

      Could be anyone, really, since Abrams basically blew up Star Trek canon with the first movie’s time travel plot. We’re now dealing with a franchise that’s free to do whatever it wants.

        I suppose your right. I was hoping for some Klingons in this one. I know that he’s not part of the canon from this series but Worf was a badass!!!

          Worf would also be 80+ years later. But yeah some Klingons would be cool.

        well he didnt ‘blow up’ the canon ,the Reboot is in an alternate timeline,as Old spock explained. the storys of previous trek series happened. this is all in alternate dimension of time and space.
