Apparently the plot for Gareth Evans’ “The Raid 2: Berandal” picks up where the 2011 movie left off, with battling cop hero Rama (Iko Uwais) finding himself stumbling across a “much broader world of corruption and violence”. Translation? Rama gets to fight another gazillion people for our viewing pleasure.
Check out a new banner poster for Evans’ upcoming “The Raid” sequel. “The Raid” pretty much blew everyone away and turned Evans into a big-time movie director, even more so than his first big hit, “Merantau” (which also starred Uwais).
According to Twitch, a teaser trailer for the film is expected sometime in the next few weeks. The film itself has been in production for a while, ever since the first “Raid” kicked all kinds of ass and became a phenomenon among people who appreciate ridiculously fun asskicking (and don’t necessarily care all that much about all that plot “stuff”).
“The Raid 2: Merantau” will also star Julie Estelle, Alex Abbad, Yayan Ruhian, Mathias Muchus, Tio Pakusadewo, Marsha Timothy, Cecep Arif Rahman, Matsuda Ryuhei, Endo Kenichi and Kitamura Kazuki.
You can expect the film sometime next year.
Here’s just a little bit of the crazy action you’re in store for for those of you who never saw the first movie:
