If, you know, you’re into that sort of thing. But hey, if you were sitting at home and wondering to yourself, “Gee, I wish Michael Bay would hurry up and make that ‘Transformers’ sequel already!” Then you’re in luck, because it appears as if Peter Berg and Universal have gone and given us a “Transformers” sequel … minus, you know, the “Transformers” moniker. This thing looks basically like “Transformers” at sea, though, and honestly, I think it’s going to make a lot of money at the box office. Or at least overseas. Goofy, CGI-heavy, alien invadin’ stuff like this always seems to do very well in places where English is a second language. Folks overseas loves their movies blowing shit up, what can I say.
Taylor Kitsch, coming off the “Ouch” of “John Carter”, stars as some Navy kid who must save the Earth when alien invaders show up and start getting all “Transformers”-y with their alien shenanigans. R&B singer Rihanna makes her acting debut on the film, which also co-stars honest to goodness actors like Liam Neeson, Alexander Skarsgård, Josh Pence, Brooklyn Decker, Jesse Plemons, Peter MacNicol, and Tadanobu Asano.
Okay, maybe not so much Brooklyn Decker. But girl looks good, and isn’t that the point?
Saving the world from one spinning, alien machine of death at a time this May 18, 2012.
