In the mood for a little creepiness? Then check into A&E’s “Bates Motel”, their prequel to Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho”, that follows a young Norman Bates as he grows up at the titular Bates Motel, where all manner of motherly shenanigans take place. Freddie Highmore looks freakishly Anthony Perkins-esque in these promo stills, but then again, I guess that’s the point.
Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s genre-defining film, “Psycho,” “Bates Motel” is a contemporary exploration of the formative years of Norman Bates’ relationship with his mother, Norma, and the world they inhabit. Viewers will have access to their dark, twisted back story and learn firsthand how Norma helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.
The show also stars Jenna Romanin, Max Thieriot, and Vera Farmiga as Norman’s dear mum.
“Bates Motel” premieres on A&E in 2013.
