Two first looks from CinemaCon courtesy of Collider.
The first is for Ryan Gosling’s “Drive”, based on the breezy but deliciously wicked read that is James Sallis’ novel of the same name, starring Gosling as a Hollywood stunt driver who moonlights as a getaway man. As these things invariably happens, his two worlds collide and Driver, as he’s only known in the book (and movie), must do more than “just drive”. Which, as it turns out, he does pretty damn well, too. Carrie Mulligan co-stars as the next door gal who intrigues our loner.
Nicolas Winding Refn of “Valhalla Rising” fame directs.
Up next, Luc Besson’s latest action-o-rama “Lockout”, starring Guy Pearce as “a man [who is] wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He’s offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates.” Maggie Grace plays the daughter. Yes, she gets TAKEN again. In space!
James Mather and Stephen St. Leger are directing the sci-fi actioner. Look for it in 2012.
