2008’s “Shutter” is a horror movie remake of the 2004 Thai horror movie of the same name (read our review here). I wasn’t a big fan of the original, as it was a run-of-the-mill, by-the-numbers Asian horror film that did exactly as I expected and little else. Which is to say, it had no ambition other than to cash in on the Asian horror faze of a few years ago, which I suppose it succeeded at.
And so, what’s to get all excited about a remake of a lackluster original? Eh, who knows. The guys over at Bloody-Disgusting have scored your first look at the remake.
In the film a newly married couple discovers disturbing, ghostly images in photographs they develop after a tragic accident. Fearing the manifestations may be connected, they investigate and learn that some mysteries are better left unsolved. Read on for the pics and cross your fingers that this is as good as the original.
The film is directed by Masayuki Ochiai, whose other horror movie I thought was also kind of “blah”. The remake is set in Tokyo, and stars former Dawson’s Creek runaway Joshua Jackson and Aussie Rachael Taylor (“Transformers”).
