First Images from State of Play
State of Play (2009) Movie — By Nix on December 19, 2008
The first images from “State of Play” makes us all ask the question that has been on our minds for a while now: “Is Russell Crowe really that much shorter than Ben Affleck? Dear God, he looks like a midget!” But maybe that’s just me. Here are the first images from Kevin Macdonald’s “State of Play”, a Hollywood remake of the BBC mini-series of the same name, starring Crowe as a journalist chasing the murderer of a Washington mistress. Gee, a mistress in Washington, found dead, and now people are covering it up. What are the chances? The film has quite the pedigree, not to mention some major background shenanigans, what with Brad Pitt and Ed Norton originally scheduled to star, but then bailed and were replaced by Crowe and Ben Affleck, respectively.
Based on the BBC mini-series of the same title, a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman’s mistress.
Starring Rachel McAdams, Russell Crowe, Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Robin Wright Penn, Helen Mirren, Viola Davis, Maria Thayer, Jeff Daniels, and directed by Kevin Macdonald.

This is one that I’m really looking forward to. A great cast.
Well, Ben Afflex IS 6 feet, 4 inches tall. Russell is just under 6 feet tall. So naturally, he’s going to appear shorter.
Oh, McAdams. <3
Nix, you don’t like Russell Crowe. Fine, I get that. But what sort of thing you would expect by commenting on his height? Ben Affleck is taller than Russell Crowe. Big deal! You wanna be a professional, then comment on the movie instead. What do you think about it? Do you like the idea of this remake version or not (comparing to the original BBC series)? What do you think about the quality of the casts and the storyline? I know a preview/test screening of this movie has occured a couple days ago, I read that somewhere. Did you attend?
Oh btw, did the film company who produced this movie know you post these images?!
Nick said it all. You are suppose to be reporting on the movie and the work the stars put into it, and whether or not the movie is worthy of seeing. which i know it is a must see movie after all Russell Crowe is in it. as for the height of Russell , Ben could be standing on a step above Russell, but as Russell’s fans know he is and i quote him.(11+1/2and a bit.)

Uh oh. Looks like I’ve pissed off the Russell Crowe fans! Must…go…into…hiding…
Nix,
As far as pissing off the Russell Crowe fans, your comments make one wonder if that wasn’t your intention in the first place!
That said, us Russell Crowe fans would have really liked to hear something about the movie and not Russell’s height. True fans like myself could care less if he’s shorter than Ben Affleck or anyone else! We just enjoy his excellent acting and always outstanding performances.
Shame Mcadams has no boobs!
A little more attention to the movie plot combined with thoughtful, intelligent commentary and less of your predictable junior high school journalism fodder might have warranted kinder responses. Keep your day job, hon.
Here are the links I’ve found re: the early reviews from the SOP test screening.

Judging from those reviews, it sounds really promising. I have high anticipation and expectation. But those reviews come from die-hard Crowe fans, so maybe (just maybe) they’ll be considered as biased. It’ll be more interesting to hear more comments from general moviegoers or even non-Crowe fans. Besides Russell Crowe, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, and Jason Bateman sure sound convincing in my ears. And surprise, surprise! Even Ben Affleck got the thumbs up from those reviewers. Quite unexpected, huh? Kevin McDonalds sure sounds convincing as well since his success with The Last King of Scotland.
Nix, I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful for the pics you posted. But just a liiiittle bit honest opinion on this movie alone would be much appreciated instead of bashing one of its lead actors.
When it comes to Russell Crowe size doesn’t matter babe. Never has and never will.
Would have liked to read a real review aboout the movie too, but I guess after this “report” I can do without that from you. Seems like you are just interested in writing gossip and shallow-brained rubbish.
Boring!
