First Images from Tsui Hark’s Flying Swords of Dragon Gate

Check out the first images from Tsui Hark’s remake/sequel to his 1992 movie “Dragon Inn”, titled “Flying Swords of Dragon Gate”, which Hark is currently shooting in 3D. The pics feature leading actress Zhou Xun, all dressed up as a “young man” in the film. I know, Zhou Xun looks nothing like a young man in these pics, just go with it, it’s an old Chinese cinematic conceit that everyone else in the movie won’t have a clue she’s not a dude.

The plot, like the original, has a Ming Dynasty general confronting with a power-hungry eunuch at a deserted inn called Dragon Gate, where swordplay and other ass-kickery goes down like Charlie Brown.

Xun co-stars in the movie with Jet Li, Chen Kun, Kwai Lun-Mei, Li Yuchun and Mavis Fan, with a late 2011 release date in parts of China, which means the rest of us will probably get this no sooner than, oh, 2012 or thereabouts.
