First Official Look at Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel

Well, here’s some good  news to wake up to on a Thursday morning. Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures has released the first official photo of our new Superman, Henry Cavill, as Supes himself in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel”.

I’m not much of a Superman fan myself, but the pic looks pretty good. It seems that Snyder will be going for a more grittier, dark version compared to Brandon Routh’s take as Superman in 2006′s “Superman Returns”.

Recently, Cavill spoke out about wearing the Superman outfit for the first time:

“It’s extremely cool. There’s no other feeling like it,” he said. “They just put it on, I turned around and look in the mirror and you can’t really play it cool – you sort of guffaw and laugh. I thought ‘OK, holy hell, this is real, it’s not a joke anymore. This is it…you’re doing it, you’re right in the middle of it.’”

And here’s some official announcement talking about who else is in it…in case you’ve forgotten.

The film also stars three-time Oscar® nominee Amy Adams (“The Fighter”) as Daily Planet journalist Lois Lane, and Oscar® nominee Laurence Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It”) as her editor-in-chief, Perry White. Starring as Clark Kent’s adoptive parents, Martha and Jonathan Kent, are Oscar® nominee Diane Lane (“Unfaithful”) and Academy Award® winner Kevin Costner (“Dances with Wolves”).

Squaring off against the superhero are two other surviving Kryptonians, the villainous General Zod, played by Oscar® nominee Michael Shannon (“Revolutionary Road”), and Faora, Zod’s evil partner, played by Antje Traue. Also from Superman’s native Krypton are Lara Lor-Van, Superman’s mother, played by Julia Ormond, and Superman’s father, Jor-El, portrayed by Academy Award® winner Russell Crowe (“Gladiator”).

Rounding out the cast are Harry Lennix as U.S. military man General Swanwick, as well as Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy.

“Man of Steel” is being produced by Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, Christopher Nolan and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay was written by David S. Goyer, from a story by Goyer and Nolan, based upon Superman characters created by Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster and published by DC Comics. Thomas Tull and Lloyd Phillips are serving as executive producers.
What do you guys think of the new look? Yay or nay?

I think… i think.. uhhh, yeah, yup, ummhhmm… I just got a boner!! Now I’m gonna strap on a condom like it’s my cape and go find my girlfriend! lol.
Now that is what supes is supposed to look like. Loving the darker tone of the suit and the honeycombed texture. I don’t usually dig the big ass “S” (rather liked the smaller one in “Returns”) but, it works here. Who cares about the silly curl Supes usually has in his hair. I have to say one thing though, his hair does look a tad bit too fluffy-puffy, but I’m guessing it’s just cause he’s in the middle of some serious movement. I’ve always thought Superman’s hair should be tightly slicked straight back. can not wait for this one. So pissed they moved it back an entire year!

The “curl” is the disguise. Just the glasses isn’t enough isn’t enough to hide the fact that he’s clark kent.

The cape is pretty sweet looking too. This could be the reboot they needed for ole Supes. Let’s hope so. I like this a whole lot more than the first look at returns years ago.
