I’ve never read Joseph Delaney’s “The Spook’s Apprentice”, so I have no idea what the film version of the book, “The Seventh Son” is all about. Thankfully, USAToday was kind enough to include a helpful synopsis of the book and upcoming film below.
It stars Jeff Bridges as some kind of uber wizard, with Ben Barnes of “Chronicles of Narnia” fame playing his new protege. Plus, Julianne Moore as red-headed witch who is apparently a real bitch. Check out some pics from the film.
According to USAToday:
Based on the young-adult novel The Spook’s Apprentice by Joseph Delaney,Seventh Son casts Bridges as Master John Gregory, a “Spook” who imprisoned the evil witch Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) centuries before.
Gregory’s getting into the twilight of his years and the apprentices he keeps trying to recruit don’t last very long, which becomes a serious problem for him when Malkin escapes and rounds up all of her followers for one momentous attack.
Directed by Sergei Bodrov (“Prisoner of the Mountain”), “The Seventh Son” also stars Alicia Vikander, Djimon Hounsou, Olivia Williams, Antje Traue and “Game of Thrones'” Kit Harington, who is really getting around these days.
