“Two Mothers” is from director Anne Fontaine (“Coco Before Chanel”), based on the book “The Grandmothers” by Doris Lessing. The film looks like a serious exploration of what happens when you fall in love with your best friend’s teenage son. And, er, your teenage son falls in love with her.
Complications, as they say, ensue.
Of course, this being Hollywood, the older women are played by spectacularly gorgeous gals. That would be Naomi Watts and Robin Wright, playing the childhood friends and older women, with Xavier Samuel and James Frecheville playing their teenage sons/lovers.
“Two Mothers” is set to make its debut at Sundance next year.
Also starring Ben Mendelsohn, Sophie Lowe, Gary Sweet, Jessica Tovey, and Alyson Standen.
