A trio of sci-fi movie goodness for you this post-Christmas Day. The first features our first look at Sharlto Copley in Neill Blomkamp’s latest sci-fi-as-allegory flick “Elysium”, this time taking on the whole “the 1% have everything, while the 99% have nothing” angle. Having read the script, this thing is like getting hit in the face with a sledgehammer. It is not exactly subtle stuff.
Here’s Copley playing the film’s villain, an evil looking fellow by the name of Kruger. Matt Damon, of course, stars as our oppressed hero. Also starring Jodie Foster, William Fichtner, Michael Shanks, Diego Luna, Alice Braga, Faran Tahir, Carly Pope, Talisa Soto, Ona Grauer, and Terry Chen, “Elysium” arrives August 9, 2013.
Meanwhile, here are four new looks at the main men of J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek Into Darkness”, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Chris Pine as Empire Magazine’s latest cover boys and a new pic of Zachary Quinto packing a phaser. Or whatever it’s called in this version of “Trek”. Also, a new image of ‘Batch and Pine face-to-face.
The latest “Trek” co-stars Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Peter Weller, Bruce Greenwood, and treks back into theaters May 17, 2013.
