First Look at Showtime’s New Thriller Homeland

Shows like “Homeland” makes me wish I had Showtime. It’s probably one of my most anticipated shows of the year, the kind that combines a great lead actor (Damian Lewis) and a gritty, ticking-clock plot only the boys from “24” could possibly come up with. Which makes perfect sense, since “Homeland” is from Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, two of the boys from “24”. Showtime has released a 3-minute clip from the show’s pilot episode below.

HOMELAND is a psychological thriller starring Claire Danes as a CIA officer who becomes convinced that the intelligence that led to the rescue of a U.S. soldier (Damian Lewis) who had been missing and presumed dead was a set-up and may be connected to an Al Qaeda plot to be carried out on American soil.

Also starring Mandy Patinkin, hiding behind a bushel of beard.

“Homeland” is written by Gordon, Gansa and Gideon Raff and will be produced by FOX 21. The Showtime show is based on the Israeli show “Prisoners of War” by Raff.
