First Look at the Cast from the South Korean Horror Flick Sector 7

There still isn’t a whole lot of information surrounding the upcoming South Korean horror opus “Sector 7″ beyond a poster, a synopsis, and the first image of the cast you see situated below this cluster of words. Did I mention that the film will be presented in 3D? How could I possibly forget that juicy nugget of information. As of this writing, the feature is scheduled for release this summer, so more promotional material should bubble to the surface as the gap between now and then begins to close. Until then, I suppose this photo and that poster will have to suffice.

Here’s a quick rundown of the plot:

In “Sector 7″, an underwater oil field located south of Jeju Island, Hae-jun is working as a marine equipment manager on an oil prospecting ship called Eclipse. Joining the crew later is Jeong-man, a former colleague of Hae-jun’s father, assigned to Eclipse as captain. Though his job is to oversee the withdrawal of the ship, he suggests conducting some drilling one last time.

After 3 weeks of preparation, Hae-jun takes new recruit underwater, but he sinks to the bottom of the sea when the equipment fails. Shortly crew members begin to turn up dead, one by one, their bodies viciously multilated.

What the few survivors soon discover is a transparent underwater creature they encountered once before. The viral monster infiltrated the ship through the drilling pipe and has been feeding on the crew to survive. Hae-jun and his colleagues’ frantic fight for their lives begins.

“Sector 7″, which is helmed by Kim Ji-hoon, stars Ha Ji-won, Ahn Seong-gi, Oh Ji-ho, Lee Han-wi, Park Cheol-min, and Song Sae-byeok. Thanks to Film Smash for the scoop.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)

Really looking forward to “Sector 7″. Gonna be a good year for films with “The Troll Hunter” and “Super 8″ coming as well. The Marvel market flood is starting to get ridiculous with X-Men and Spider-man reboots, Captain America, The Mighty Thor and The Avengers and probably another Iron Man film. This is getting silly now with these obvious Marvel cash-in attempts. Transformers 3 just might be good as well. I wonder what are Takashi Shimizu, Hideo Nakata, Kim Ki Duk, Takashi Miike, Ryuhei Kitamura, Shusuke Kaneko, Zhang Yimou, Ronnie Yu, Parkpoom Wongpoom and crew, Tsui Hark, Wong Kar-Wai and Park Chan-Wook up to for this year?
