First Look at the Coens’ Remake of Gambit

Written by the Brothers Coen, but directed by Michael Hoffman (“The Last Station”), “Gambit” is a remake of a 1966 film starring Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine. For the remake, the Coens have assembled Colin Firth, fresh off his Oscar win for “The King’s Speech” and Cameron Diaz, fresh off cussing like a sailor in the hilarious looking “Bad Teacher”. Check out your first look at the two from the upcoming remake, due out sometime in 2012.

In the film, Firth will play an art curator who enlists the services of a Texas beauty (Diaz) to con a wealthy collector played by Alan Rickman into buying a phony Monet painting. Problems, of course, arise when the crook starts falling for his “gambit” himself.
