First Look: Matt Ryan in NBC’s Constantine TV Series

NBC has released your first look at star Matt Ryan (“Layer Cake”) from their upcoming “Constantine” TV show, based on the D.C. comic book “Hellblazer.” The character was previously portrayed by a very non-British Keanu Reeves in the movie of the same name directed by Francis Lawrence, but this time around they’re giving you an honest to goodness Brit in the role.

Ryan will star as the titular demon hunter, one John Constantine, a man “struggling with his faith is haunted by the sins of his past but is suddenly thrust into the role of defending humanity from the gathering forces of darkness.”

The show co-stars Lucy Griffiths, Harold Perrineau, and Charles Halford. Neil Marshall (of “The Descent” and “Doomsday” fame) is directing the pilot, with “Man of Steel” and “Batman Begins” guy David S. Goyer having adapted the show from the comic originally created by Daniel Cerone.
