In Michael Faber’s book (or at least, the first 50 pages that I managed to read before giving up on it entirely), Scarlett Johansson’s alien succubus character is supposed to be freakish, and even kinda ugly. Not to mention badly “assembled”, with big hooters that she uses to draw in men (we are such simple creatures, aren’t we?) but lacking everywhere else.
It would see Jonathan Glazer’s adaptation of the novel is going the other direction. Last we saw of Glazer’s sci-fi movie “Under the Skin”, there were set images of Scarlett Johansson from 2011. Now here’s your first official look at the Black Widow, once again prowling the roads for male victims.
In the film, Johansson plays an alien who has assumed human form in order to lure men from the roads of Scotland for nefarious purposes. We assume it’s nefarious, otherwise why not just invite them to her house? But hey, if you had to go, I guess you could do worst than Scarlett Johansson.
