Besides his usual assortment of A-list films, Bruce Willis has certainly been spending a lot of time in the direct-to-DVD action movie arena. Of course, usually his appearances in these films (a lot of them starring rapper-turned-actor .50 Cent for some reason) feel more like a favor to various buddies, and usually involves him doing an extended cameo or two, though of course that hasn’t stopped the filmmakers from giving him marquee billing. I’m not sure how much screentime Willis has in Anchor Bay’s “Catch .44”, due out on DVD an Blu-ray December 20th, but he’s certainly got top billing once again. Check out your first looks at the upcoming actioner below, which also co-stars a bevy of beauties including Malin Akerman, Nikki Reed, and Deborah Ann Woll.
For Tes (Akerman) and her two cohorts Kara (Nikki Reed, Thirteen, the Twilight franchise) and Tara (Deborah Ann Woll, “True Blood”), the job sounded simple enough: intercept a double-cross drug shipment for their crime boss Mel (Willis) at an isolated diner. But when an unstoppable chain of events unfolds, everyone soon realizes no one is who they seem and the job may be something other than eliminating the competition. What started as simple instructions has now turned into a deadly cat-and-mouse game – with large guns pointed at everyone. Catch .44 also stars Brad Dourif (The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers, Dune), Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville”) and Shea Whigham (“Boardwalk Empire”).
Starring Bruce Willis, Forest Whitaker, Nikki Reed, and Malin Akerman. Directed by Aaron Harvey (“The Evil Woods”).
Bonus content on the DVD and Blu-ray seems to be limited to a filmmakers’ commentary track. Par for the course with direct-to-DVD offerings. No trailer yet, though.
