First Murderously Funny Trailer for Ben Wheatley’s Sightseers

Alice Lowe and Steve Oram in Sightseers (2012) Movie Image

When I heard the title of Ben Wheatley’s latest, “Sightseers”, I thought it was about psychics or some such. Turns out, it’s just about two people who go on vacation. You know, sight seeing, and such. This is Wheatley’s follow-up to his creepy horror flick “Kill List”, and it couldn’t be more different. Mostly. Check out your first look at the trailer for “Sightseers” below. Try not to piss off the tourists, okay?

Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through the British Isles in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that separates these wonders in his life. But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…

Starring Alice Lowe, Steve Oram, Eileen Davies, Jonathan Aris, Richard Glover, and Monica Dolan. The film is actually written by its two stars, Lowe and Oram.

“Sightseers” opens in the UK November 30th. No word on a Stateside release yet.
