First Official Look at Depp and Bale in Public Enemies

Written by Nix | December 1st, 2008 | 0 Comments |

Michael Mann does gangsters. With Tommy guns instead of M16s, this time around. Should be great fun, right? And look at the cast: Johnny Depp as the bank-robbin’, FBI-shoot-out gettin’ into John Dillinger, and Christian Bale as legendary G-man Melvin Purvis, the fed chasing him. Two great actors in a movie with Tommy guns directed by the guy who gave us “Heat”. Man, if you can’t get excited for that, you need to get yourself a pulse, because this thing has the makings of a pretty awesome action movie in 2009. So here’s your first official look at Depp and Bale in character.

Described as a sort of Heat II, the film tells the story of charismatic criminal gang leader John Dillinger (Depp) and determined lawman Melvin Purvis (Bale), the FBI agent tracking him down. Also in the cast is Marion Cotillard as Dillinger’s girlfriend, Channing Tatum, Giovanni Ribisi, David Wenham, Leelee Sobieski and Emilie de Ravin, with Billy Crudup as the legendary J. Edgar Hoover.
