It seems like I’ve been writing about “Tomorrow, When the War Began” director Stuart Beattie’s “I, Frankenstein” for the last couple of years. This movie feels like it’s been in production forever, and I’m getting this very bad feeling it’s either going to get dumped onto VOD/DVD when it finally opens next year (after originally being set for 2013), or it’s going to get a very limited release (with only perfunctory advertising) and then dumped onto VOD/DVD. Which, if that happens, will make it star Aaron Eckhart’s second movie to get that treatment, following in the footsteps of “The Expatriate” (which was eventually renamed the very generic “Erased”).
Anyways, until we do see something from “I, Frankenstein”, here’s a scan featuring Eckhart as the titular Frankenstein monster in the latest pages of EW. Yeah, not much of a Frankenstein there. Shouldn’t he be, I don’t know, uglier?
In the film, “is a modern-day epic: Frankenstein’s creature, Adam, has survived to present day due to a genetic quirk in his creation. Making his way to a dark, gothic metropolis, he finds himself caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans.”
The movie is based on the comic book of the same name, and will co-star Bill Nighy, Socratis Otto, Yvonne Strahovski and Miranda Otto.
Frank pumps you up next year, January 24th, 2014.
