Here’s your first official look at Daniel Day Lewis as the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg’s simply titled “Lincoln”. As far as I know, this Lincoln doesn’t fight vampires with an ax or know kung fu, but I could be wrong. The film is scheduled to open November 16, 2012 (with a limited release a week before that). I suspect a trailer will be forthcoming soon.
“Lincoln” focuses on the last four months of the president’s life, and the political strategizing he undertook at the close of the Civil War to ensure that slavery would be forever outlawed.
“Our movie is really about a working leader who must make tough decisions and get things done in the face of overwhelming opposition,” Spielberg says.
The cast, not surprisingly, is A-list stuff, including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Jackie Earle Haley, Jared Harris, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Lee Pace, James Spader, David Costabile, John Hawkes, and Bruce McGill.
