You’ve seen the set photos, now here’s your first official look at Tom Cruise as former military MP turned homeless wandering deliverer of rough justice Jack Reacher, from “Way of the Gun” director Christopher McQuarrie’s upcoming “Jack Reacher”.
The film is based on the novel “One Shot”, from the series of popular novels by Lee Child, and will star Cruise as a loner/righter of wrongs who takes on the case of a former military sniper who has gone nuts and shot a bunch of innocent people. Or has he? Reacher’s investigation leads him to team up with Rosamund Pike, playing a local defense attorney, while eventually pitting him up against a ruthless Russian gangster called “The Zec” (filmmaker Werner Herzog, trying his hand at acting this time ’round).
“Jack Reacher” is due to get in your face December 21, 2012. Until then, check out your first official looks at Cruise as Jack Reacher.
I’d like to tell you it’s going to quell the legion of Lee Child fans who were howling when Cruise was originally cast in the role, but let’s face it, when you envisioned Jack Reacher, you probably weren’t envisioning this. I’d like to see how McQuarrie approached the action (via some footage) first before I decide myself, but don’t let that stop you from making your judgements now. It’s a free country.
