First Official US Poster For [Rec] 3: Genesis

“[Rec] 3: Genesis”, the third installment in, you guessed it, the “[Rec]” series, has garneried bunches of praise this year at festivals like SXSW and more. The Spanish horror flick hits video on demand on August 3, 2012, and will get a limited release on September 7. To sate your appetite the first official US poster has found its way onto the airwaves.

After collaborating on the first two films in this found footage franchise with Jaume Baluguero, Paco Plaza, who co-wrote and co-directed one and two, has solo directorial control of “Genesis”. By many accounts, “[Rec] 3” has a decidedly different feel and approach than the other two, with more of a sense of humor.

Koldo and Clara are about to celebrate the most important day of their lives: their wedding. Everything appears to be running smoothly and the bride and groom and their families are enjoying a wonderful day; that is until some of the guests start showing signs of a strange illness. Before they know what’s happening, the bride and groom find themselves in the middle of a hellish ordeal, as an uncontrollable torrent of violence is unleashed on the wedding. Amidst the chaos, Koldo and Clara become separated and begin a desperate search for one another. What started off as an idyllic day quickly descends into a nightmare of the worst kind…

Magnet, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, is handling US distro for “[Rec] 3: Genesis”, and it promises to be a splattery good time. Once you see the trailer (embedded below), and watch the bride going kill crazy with a chainsaw, you know you’re in for one hell of a movie.
