First Pics and a Poster for the Live Action Version of The Citizen Police 69

Over-the-top action flicks and cutesy Japanese girls go together like peanut butter and jelly, which may explain why so many filmmakers are jumping on the bandwagon as of late. Below you’ll find the first batch of pics from the upcoming live-action adaptation of “The Citizen Police 69″, Kimio Yanagisawa’s manga about a salaryman who moonlights as a secret corporate agent. The feature stars Toshiya Sakai, pop idol Akari Hayami, and adult actress Saori Hara, the latter of whom will probably add a bit of sexuality to the project. Ain’t nothing wrong with that, right? I didn’t think so.

Here are the specifics, courtesy of TokyoGraph:

Yanagisawa is best known for writing the manga “Tokumei Kakarichou Tadano Hitoshi” about a salaryman who also serves as a secret corporate agent carrying out special missions. “Shimin Police 69,” which was serialized from 2001 to 2006, has a similar concept. The protagonist (played by Sakai) is an ordinary middle-aged worker who is chosen by a crime-exposing organization known as the “Shimin Police,” and as a result he winds up in unusual circumstances. The young Hayami plays a girl who ends up changing the protagonist’s fate.

“The Citizen Police 69″ is currently slated to land in Japanese theaters this spring. Much love to Eiga for providing the series of photos embedded below.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
