If you’ve been curious about Keanu Reeves’ big-screen directorial debut, the martial arts flick “Man of Tai Chi”, then join the club. I haven’t been this excited for a Keanu Reeves movie since, well, the last “Matrix” movie, to be perfectly honest with you. Although Reeves’ name will be used to heavily sell the movie (and rightly so, he is the director, after all), Reeves only co-stars in the film, with the main protagonist being Chinese actor Tiger Hu Chen.
“Man of Tai Chi” will find Hu Chen playing a young martial artist in Beijing, China, whose skills “places him in position to experience opportunities and sacrifices.” Okay, a tad abstract, that, but what you should keep in mind is that this thing is supposed to be an asskicking kung fu movie that will also co-star “The Raid’s” Iko Uwais.
Check out your first look at the film, featuring images (below) of Reeves in character and on the set, and star Tiger Hu Chen. Also, your first look at the poster (above).
The movie is still in-production, so you’re probably looking at a late 2013 bow or early 2014. Let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later.
